Formed from folded Washi paper, Unit is a collapsible lamp constructed from a matrix of interlocking cubes. Each is rotated 90 degrees from the next, creating a rhythmic structure that channels and diffuses light. The shade is held in tension by a housing that positions a mirrored bulb at its centre. The project began with a simple observation: open, opposing cubes could fold flat. Expanding on this, a self-supporting grid of cubes emerged—structurally coherent, collapsible, and infinitely scalable.
