Examining the relationship between two sitters, the two individual seats that make up the chair are hinged at the back and set on casters. This allows the sitters to choose how close they want to be. The closer they sit, the more stable the seat becomes. As they move further away, the chair becomes increasingly unstable, and eventually, impossible to sit on.
